Lori, the teacher ...

For the 1996-1997 academic year, I worked with Sara Van Der Werf at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a student teacher and a practicum teacher. I taught unit of Interactive Mathematics Program (IMP) to culturally diverse classes of juniors and seniors, using TI-82 and TI-83 calculators daily in lessons. I designed lessons and worksheets expanding the existing curriculum, provided timely feedback to students on their progress, and individually tutored students having difficulty with assignments. I also conducted parent-teacher conferences and assigned trimester grades.

At the 1997 NCTM Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I presented at two sessions: "Using the World Wide Web to Improve the Teaching of Mathematics" and "IMP Demo Class: Join with Students to Experience a Problem-Centered Curriculum."

In the spring of 1997, I assisted Karen Hyers at Clara Barton School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I worked with her pre-algebra and geometry to students grades 6-8. teaching some lessons and assisting students with their classwork. In addition, I taught a two-day unit on topology centered around the mathematical video The Shape of Space.

Though I am not currently looking for a job, my teaching resume may be of interest to you.
