We will use integration to explore the mathematics associated with the oscillatory motion of beams. First, we will model the motion of an oscillating cantilevered beam using a linear system of differential equations. However, a comparison of this model with actual experimental data indicates that it is not sufficient. We are then let to use a system of nonlinear partial differential equations as a model for the oscillatory motion of a cantilevered beam.
