Up: Principal Curvatures
Some curiosities about principal curvatures
- It turns out that the principal curvatures k1 and k2 occur in orthogonal
directions.
- It turns out that the product of the principal curvatures,
k1k2, is the gaussian curvature.
- H=(k1+k2)/2 is called mean curvature.
- It turns out that the principal curvatures are the eigenvalues of
the second fundamental form.
