The high Medica increase makes it a much more expensive plan than last year. For counties in which State Health Plan Select is low plan - the premium cost to the employee goes from $11.18/month to $34.30/month for employee only coverage and from $40.50/month to $79.19/month for dependent coverage. This means an employee would have to pay $113.49/month for family coverage to keep Medica. This is worth doing only if your doc is available only through Medica.
Even if your doc is available through HeathPartners in a SHPS county, it will still cost you $93.13/month for family coverage. In a Medica county, if you can get your doc through HealthPartners, you can get family coverage for not cost if you get the full employer contribution.
