Activities at the Geometry Center

Dr. Sullivan's research centers on finding optimal geometric structures, such as minimal surfaces, Willmore surfaces, and energy-minimizing knots. He is also interested in computational issues related to such problems.

Recently, Dr. Sullivan has been involved in the Laterna MatheMagica project, in which a sphere is everted via the Willmore flow. He has made several computer graphics images of soap films. Around 1988, he wrote a program vcs to compute voronoi diagrams in three dimensions. In 1995, he wrote a java program demonstrating stereographic projection.
