Activities at the Geometry Center

Brad Barber was a part-time postdoc at the Geometry Center. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science (1992) from Princeton University under David Dobkin. Barber's research interests concern the practical implementation of geometric algorithms under imprecise data and arithmetic. In general dimension, he has a robust point-in-polyhedron algorithm (with Michael Hirsch) and is working on a robust convex hull algorithm. Hannu Huhdanpaa, a student working under Barber's direction, has implemented the precise version of the convex hull algorithm. The Geometry Center distributes a version of these programs, Qhull. In addition, Barber develops a programming system and database for personal computers.
