Communicating Mathematics with Hypertext:
Introduction to Design Issues for Web Pages

Armed with some mathematical information (research results, course content, etc.) , the time comes for you to communicate it. You could use hypertext "because it's there," but you may have better reasons than that. Before discussing hypertext itself, take a moment to consider your options, which include:

• Verbal:
  • Lecture,
  • Discussion,
  • Socratic Dialog, ...
  
  
• Print:
  • Personal Communication,
  • Paper/Article,
  • Book, ...
  
  
• Electronic:
  • ASCII/email,
  • RTF/TeX,
  • Annotated Session,
  • Tool Protocol,
  • Program,
  • HTML, ...
  
  
• Other means, such as videos
  • Share some features of all the above.
  • Will not be covered in this talk.

Consider a WWW-page that offers a brief summary of the points so far, including some of the options and issues involved in choosing a medium and writing for it.
