The Geometry Center is an NSF Science and Technology Research Center at the University of Minnesota. The Center's mission is to develop, support, and promote computational tools for visualizing geometric structures, for facilitating communication among mathematical and computer scientists and between these scientists and the public at large, and for stimulating research in geometry.
The Center has a state-of-the-art computing and visualization lab with an exciting array of equipment, including high-end SGI graphics workstations, other Unix graphics workstations, PCs, Macintoshes, and video production facilities. The Center's resources are used both locally and across the Internet for research, development, and education. The lab serves a diverse group of students, high school teachers, faculty, the Center's own staff, and is used regularly as the site for workshops with participation on an international scale. This position reports to the Center Technical Staff Manager. The salary is expected to be in the range $35,000 to $50,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The position is annually renewable.
