Calc III Lab: Introduction
The differential equations we will study in this lab have the form
dx/dt = a x + b y
dy/dt = c x + d y.
These equations may be written in matrix form as
Intuitively, we say that two differential equations are
qualitatively similar if their phase portaits look the same.
Objectives of the lab
The objective of this lab is to
classify all first-order linear systems based on the qualitative appearance
of their phase portraits.
