- Some sources of problems:
- Printed URLs get out of date.
- Users' private areas go away over time.
- Links to other sites get out of date.
- Some ways to handle certain types of problems:
- Consider using CGI scripts to handle published URLs.
- Consider using CGI scripts to handle references to users' private areas.
- Some ways to be pro-active, and catch problems early:
- Check external consistency periodically.
- Check internal consistency regularly.
- Active checks (webcrawlers)
- Passive checks (error logs)
