Basics of Math on the Web
LaTeX2html
At present, latex2html
is the all around best tool for
putting math on the web at the moment. It has its limitations, but it
gets the job done.
You can
download
it from CTAN.
Theoretically, latex2html
can be installed on any system
with PERL. However, it also needs a number of supporting programs, to
function as well as possible. They include:
It is probably fair to say latex2html
is designed for and
used mostly on Unix systems.
- Advantages
- Excellent in situations a TeX document is mandatory for hard copy.
- Reasonably good output quality
- Produces standard HTML documents
- Disadvantages
- Not very user friendly. Requires technical installation
- The authoring process is complicated and technical
- Images are slow, don't rescale and can't be searched
