Lagrange Multipliers
In this lab we will study the geometric significance behind the method
of Lagrange multipliers.
Objectives of the lab
The method of Lagrange multipliers is used to find the extreme points of a function f(x,y) when
x and y are constrained to lie on an implicitly-defined curve
g(x,y)=k. The objective
of this lab is to use the geometry of the gradient vector fields of f and g to explain the method.
You will need to invoke Maple for this lab.
