Rhombus: Area Summary


  1. A rhombus is a 4-sided figure with 4 congruent sides.
  2. A rhombus is a type of parallelogram (2 pairs of opposite sides that are parallel).
  3. The diagonal of a rhombus is the segment connecting 2 vertices that are "opposite" each other. (the nonconsecutive vertices)
  4. The area of a rhombus is A= (1/2) d1 * d2 , where d1 is the length of the first diagonal and d2 is the length of the second diagonal.
