The University of Minnesota!
They are both good jobs for young mathematicians who have a strong
interest in mathematics education and curricular development (the Duke
offer is a new position -- a "hybrid" of sorts -- not quite a standard
research postdoc, and not a teaching lectureship, but a position where
you do curricular development and some research too). These examples
are hopefully encouraging to any graduate students out there reading
this, who care about mathematics education (in a mathematical culture
where that has 'second class citizen' status in the minds of too many
mathematicians, relative pure/abstract mathematics research).
In the end I felt the Minnesota job was best for me. It's a 2-year
position, renewable for 2 more years, as a Temporary Assistant
Professor in Special Projects.
Stay Tuned for more details on this or nearby pages, soon, with
more about the exciting projects we'll be involved in... (And by the
way, yes, one can benefit, very directly, from one's Web
pages, in the job search... details upon request).
