Mark Phillips

At the University of Minnesota's Geometry Center, where this web page lives, I was the technical staff manager until August of 1998, when the Center closed. I spent about half my time doing graphics programming and the other half doing administrative work. For more information on that, see my official Geometry Center staff page.

I haven't taken the time to update this web page in a LONG time; the following is from the fall of 1996. Wow. It's high time I did some updating!

When I'm not at work I'm usually out playing music or dancing somewhere in the Twin Cities. Sometime around 1993 I discovered square and contra dancing, and then started playing guitar, and most recently, fiddle. I started with Irish music, then moved to Old Time, and recently have gotten into the music of Cape Breton. In the summer of 1996 I went to the Ceilidh Trail School of Celtic Music in Cape Breton and had a blast! I've also been to Old Time Week at the Swannanoa Gathering for the last two summers and was in heaven.

Here are some recordings of me playing my guitar:

I haven't yet made any recordings of me playing the fiddle because I'm not quite ready to go public with it yet. Soon.
