JAVA to replace current Operating Systems

HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Tue, 24 Nov 2009 18:11:27 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.6 (Fedora) Last-Modified: Thu, 30 Oct 1997 19:45:01 GMT ETag: "284131-282-5902a940" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 642 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
I would agree that JAVA and SGML are totally different -
SGML is a document description language - JAVA offers a
complete Virtual Machine. I anticipate that JAVA based desktops
will soon compete with existing operating systems - imagine
an HTML page which contains apps like spreadsheets, database
tables etc. - why go to that other window (Windows 95 or
Motif) - when everything is there inside ? As JAVA is linked
to distributed object technology (CORBA) as is already
underway with JOE (Sun) this O/S linkage will become clearer.
Existing SGML will continue - maybe to migrate to some
form of Window definition lanaguage ?
