Isn't This Similar To Helper Applications?

HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Mon, 21 May 2012 09:10:51 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.6 (Fedora) Last-Modified: Thu, 30 Oct 1997 19:45:00 GMT ETag: "24c1fc-125-58f36700" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 293 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 This sounds like it is functionally equivalent to helper applications -- specified through .mailcap on Unix, or in each Browser's Preferences menu on Mac/Windows.

As an intermediate measure for Mac/Windows, it's fine (e.g. RealAudio, ScriptX). For Unix, it's an untenable position.
