Part 1

This activity calls for the following materials:

• Cardboard that has been cut into eight-1" by 6" strips
• Eight paper fasteners

Step 1

Take four of the cardstock strips and fasten them together so that they form a square.

Step 2

Then take three of the cardstock strips and fasten them together so that they form a triangle.

Step 3

Move the square and the triangle around to see if you notice any differences.

Step 4

Draw a conjecture about a unique property of triangles.

Step 5

Go to Part 2 to see if your conclusion was drawn correctly.
