In pairs, students will look at examples of optical art and identify the symmetry involved.

- Slides or a Slide Show with captions of op art
- Study guide either an HTML document or hard copy
- Disk for storage
- Electronic folder for storage

Teacher Responsibilities
- Present examples of images that represent 1-2 symmetry groups.
- Give an example of the intended outcome.
Student Responsibilities
- Study the works presented. Look at the features of the work and its relation to symmetry groups.
- Label and describe the symmetry identified in the work, if possible.
- Save responses on disk and in the folder designated for your class.
Assessment
A sample rubric for assessing this assignment follows:
- Assignment completed on time. (2 points)
- Assignment saved in the appropriate locations. (3 points...1.5 points for each location assigned.)
- 80% or more of the images labeled appropriately. (5 points)
- Assignment worth 10 points total.
